Hi Drew,

I am interested in participating in news sorting for the news wire. I don't have much time to attend real-life meetings as I recently became a father, but I can surely help on digging the web for news stories. I am familiar with Wordpress and having a background in journalism I can quickly tell the difference between what is relevant and catchy and what is not.

Looking forward to working with the team,
Snafu

There isn't a real "news" section on the site as of yet. Occupywallst.org handles most of our PR team's releases. The DOE video went up on there a few days ago, pretty amazing video!

The Internet working group is, however, working on a news wire service. Would you, or anyone else on this list, be interested in managing nycga news?

We are almost ready to launch the tool, here's how it works:
  1. RSS feeds from occupation blogs, news providers, independent bloggers, and other media sources is fed into a backend system. The data feeds need to be vetted and cleaned up, we are going to do a push for volunteers. Here is a good example of lots of RSS feeds going into a single place: http://occupyweb.org/
  2. A team of news sorters will be put together (perhaps from PR and around the web) to tag, sort, and promote news items from the feed
  3. A front end site will display the curated news stories from around the world. This will allow OWS to craft it's own narrative of the on going global protest.
Once the system is tested we will work to deploy this to other occupations so they too can craft a narrative about the occupy movement.

Let me know if you would be interested in helping out.
