I tried to get this WePay account out in the open.
That didn't work out well at all, I was pretty much treated like some sort of con artist attempting to steal money from people. I don't think I'll be doing that again unless we can brainstorm other ideas.

Ok, I've created the WePay account for donations. I don't feel comfortable being the only admin on the account though, I'd like to add someone else as well.
I agree with individual project/purpose based funding for some things.

Subject: Re: [GlobalRevolutionMedia] lost items budget
What about establishing a separate crowd-source fundraiser, like a WePay, for lost gear. Then, we could support each other and reach out to a broad community for funding.
We could also put out requests for replacement equip on social media, craigslist free, etc...

I don't know, it seems like no one was interested. I, personally, would like to see something come of it.

I think that's a great idea. My camera went missing a couple days ago from OWS and its hard for me to find a way to be involved now. I think we should brainstorm on a way to fundraise for back up gear, plus it would give me something to do. It seems like cameras and gear going missing is becoming quite common and it's really making me nervous. What does everyone think about this?

To make matters worse I was having my girlfriend get my backup gear

As a member of the photographers working group, sub-group of media, one
thought is to submit a budget for "back-up" gear for our group so that in
the event that a photographers gear is stolen or in need of repairs then we
would have gear available until their specific situation is resolved.
I'm open to any ideas and have even thought of doing some fundraising on my
own behalf but this too is uncharted territory for me and could use some
