Alexander and I went to meet with Reverend K at St Paul and St Andrew today on 86th between West End Ave and Broadway. We have good news!
The good Reverend has basically opened the church to us to use as long as the space we’re requesting is available. We also connected with Andre who is in charge of operations and can help us with scheduling.
We have access to a large room. This room is fully open and can accommodate up to 55 people for sleeping quarters. More in case of emergency. It is also ideal for day to day media team use. Ideal for media as well: there is wi-fi thoughout the church.
We also have access to the sanctuary which has stationary pews inside but can fit up to 1200 people. It is comfortable for people of all denominations (as it is currently shared by Methodists, Muslims and Jewish people depending on the congregation).
Downstairs there is an industrial kitchen and biggish cafeteria which we can use depending on scheduling (currently from late afternoon into the evening). There’s also a men and women’s bathroom with a shower in each.
Alexander and I are willing to be the bottom liners with this space - its very important for us as a group that the relationship with this church remain as pristine as possible so that we don't lose the privilege. Also - I (Andrea) attend this church regularly for meetings and I want my personal relationship with them to remain smooth.
Some ground rules:
NO DRUGS OR ALCOHOL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
NO SMOKING INSIDE THE CHURCH
ALL REQUESTS FOR SPACE MUST GO THROUGH ALEXANDER AND I. (Their operations person, Andre should not be inundated with emails.
With regard to sleeping quarters, this must be decided on a one to one basis. Alexander and I are open to suggestions as to acceptable candidates but with respect for the space, there must be a some kind of clearance process.
WE WILL NEED POINT PEOPLE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CLEAN UP AND CARE OF THE SPACE.
That's all for now - please email us with any questions.
