"... as about 220 protesters camped in their tightly packed tents, most of them asleep, powerful klieg lights on the trucks snapped on with a 'Whoosh!' Now, it was as bright as day, even though it was 1 a.m."
-- New York Times, 11/17/2011

The kliegs were shining on the park,
Shining with all their might:
They did their very best to make
The pavement smooth and bright --
And this was odd, because it was
The middle of the night.

The occupiers glared at this
Because they thought the cops
Had got no business being there
After the day was done --
'It's very rude of them,' they said,
'To come and spoil our fun.'

The Mayor and the Po-lice Chief
Were walking close at hand;
They wept like anything to see
A protest on "their" land:
`If this were only cleared away,'
They said, `it would be grand!'

`If seven units with seven tanks
Swept it for half a year,
Do you suppose,' the Mayor said,
`That they could get it clear?'
`I doubt it,' said the Carpenter,
And shed a bitter tear.
