We did address the subject of how this could affect the group as a whole. My viewpoint in the discussion is ... We are not trying to exclude or raise anyone above another person in Media. This is about identifying other OWS media team members during events. For instance, many media people cover off site events. A way for us to identify each other while also identifying ourselves to the event coordinators and participants at the event is desired. This will be very important on the 15th and as we go forward since the movement is spreading outside of the Zuccotti Park confines very fast.

I think the badges are only really necessary when shooting events/on marches/at working group meetings etc, so the collective can recognize who were are... like the medics.

This is a time critical issue and I think we may be over thinking this a bit. We need to understand who is on media and be able to not only identify ourselves to others but especially among ourselves. I understand the desire to have an iconic logo that represents what Occupy Media stands for. But at this point we've been talking about creating badges for a week with no real action.
If Anya or Pete want to submit another version I would propose that we attempt to accept it VIA ONLINE consensus and use the daily $100 petty cash assigned to each working group to pay for production. Once these badges are produced we can distribute them at the MEDIA meeting to participants who have attended multiple meetings and understand/embody the values that we uphold.
This needs to happen by this weekend. Going forward if we want to revise the Media Badges based on a better logo I think that can still happen.

All great ideas, I had suggested hats so that in a crowd when torsos and sleeves can't be seen hats are still generally visible.
What about an armband with MEDIA or a big M screenprinted or stenciled on it.
I can make the screen or and screenprint it in my house and bring a few over. Stencil would be even easier to do.

I only suggest this so that during the marches we can identify who is where and that all angles are covered if/when something happens.
