Recently (Nov 2nd) I was pleasantly surprised to find the global revolution channel either not modded or only partially. I felt this deserved special recognition because, although heavy moderation to ensure those who wish to cheer on the movement can be heard sounds like a good idea on paper, in practice it was becoming a touch idiotic.

It wasn't that the obvious rules in place (No isms, no violence, no politics, no religon etc) weren't wise and important rules to go by, but the people (and of course I don't mean all of them all the time) who were selected to oversee and carry out this moderation went a little too far sometimes. Many people, myself included, were having posts removed for simply commenting on what they were seeing live on the screen. For example, "That cop is beating him!" was deemed too violent. Or "God bless you guys!" was deemed too religious. Or even "Who here is an occupier? I want to shower them with praise!" was deemed too inappropriate and I'm not even sure why.

It got to a point where I just steered clear of the stream if I knew a certain Mod was on.

So kudos! I hope you keep the hands free (or nearly hands free) touch going. Already I've had some thought provoking conversations with fence sitters and have watched those who weren't quite sure they would fit in slowly creep closer and become more comfortable with the movement. Obviously some moderation will always be needed to keep out spammers, but being able to talk sense into naysayers is a skill I think everyone in the movement will need to eventually hone.

Thank you for the opportunity, if even for only a day.
