Yesterday a group of us met and talking about formalizing the way that the GA deals with the upcoming CiviCRM installation and other matters related to managing lists, privacy concerns, access, and the connection to social media. Folks in the room agreed that we would continue meeting TODAY, Wednesday, at 5pm, at Charlotte’s place.
Folks in the room supported making Digital Strategy a new working group that is part of the Communications Cluster, but without the power to make proposals to the GA. In a way, it is subservient to the Internet, Open Source and Outreach Working Groups because there is a lot of overlap.
At the meeting yesterday, we agree to continue with questions that need to be answered with more participation. Questions like:
Is there/should there be such a thing as a ‘general’ email distribution list that everyone is subscribed to when they join a Working Group list?
If there is, how might decisions be made regarding the content and purpose of emails to that list?
How can we address access to list and email blasting software in ways that are open/transparent, but do not compromise privacy and effectiveness?
I don’t have the full list in front of me, but attending were Devin, Drew, Christian, Harry, Charles (me) and two others.
See you there!
