My name is Jo-Robin. I'm a participating member of Occupy New Orleans
who is presently in NYC working with Arts and Culture. Part of my trip
here was to help New Orleans facilitate some assistance from the Media
group in reference to a particular gentlemen who has "hijacked" the
Occupy New Orleans name via website, twitter, facebook and wepay. The
ONO GA came to consensus on a proposal that publicly decries "Joe
Cripple" and his autonomous actions in the name of Occupy New Orleans.
This may sound extreme, but I will give you a thorough explanation.
After about 4 weeks of the occupation of Duncan Plaza there were some
very difficult GAs which resulted in division amoung the group. This,
though disapointing is inevitable in this organic process that is the
GA. At this time a man named Joe Cripple who acted as admin on the
facebook and websites started deleting other members of the
occupation, as well as taking away admin privilages and deleting posts
that questioned his behavior. He stpped attending the GAs and for
awhile was allowing one or two members of the occupation to continues
posting our meeting times and events, until they too were eventually
Recently, Mr Cripple has formed a PAC (Political Action Committee)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_action_committee against the
wishes of the GA. He has created a wepay account
and is collecting donations in the name of Occupy New Orleans. For a
mere 500$ donation YOU could become an "executive committee" member!
This is clearly the actions of a power hungry, and or criminal mind.
PLEASE! Help New Orleans regain it's media presence by publicly
denouncing this man and his websites!
I am currently in NYC and am happy to explain this to anyone in person
who would like more information.
