A group of occupations, community groups and anti-foreclosure activists have been planning a national day of action to take back foreclosed spaces on December 6th. We are planning actions that bring together occupations and communities on the frontlines in cities all around the country. We are going to move families back into homes, tag foreclosed buildings, and possibly take back non-residential buildings. The goal is to ignite a wave of re-occupations of houses and foreclosed spaces that continues beyond the day of action.
We already have 10 - 15 cities on board and are continuing to grow. Occupy LA successfully mounted a foreclosure defense of Rose Guidal'
s home using this model -- our day of action will spread this action everywhere.
The next Day of Action planning call is tonight.
Wednesday 9 p.m. Eastern 6 p.m. Pacific
Occupations should jump on and encourage their contacts in other occupations to participate. The more the merrier. We're still in the planning stages and there is a lot that needs to get planned.
I'm very excited about this day of action because it builds more bridges between occupations and the communities most affected by the issues we are raising. Taking back foreclosed homes will make it clear that the issues we're working on are not just about Wall Street - but fighting the power of Wall Street's in communities everywhere.
