oh yay sorry - no sleep - thanks so much for pointing it out i will ask her

the money would not go to her but the people going
unless there is heavy travel being done throughout the day and to different regions besides just cairo then i cannot explain it
i know that egypt has horrible traffic but still

perhaps there is a consolidation of the many into one because the regional travel costs would be so different

again i will connect with her now
sorry for the confusion

Food and Transportation (including mobile monitoring teams) $50 for 20 people = $5000

that is not per day

that is the entire stay - super cheap and yay that would be a lot per day - thankfully it's way cheaper

hmmn

wonder how we can track her down - i will inquire around maybe others can as well?

thanks!

i was referring to the local $50 daily transportation cost seeming high, but a minor thing.

separately, I don't know if christina gonzalez is on any of the email lists or mentioned working groups but she should know about this as she's been to cairo and is a great spokesperson:

to answer your question

6.  per diem housing sounds low and transportation sounds high.  those are the egyptians' estimate?

the cost of living is incredibly low compared to ours and traveling costs are high - it is about a 12 hour flight and the later we have to buy the tickets the more they will cost people would be staying in hostels so that is very cheap

thanks so much
let me know if you have more questions

my quick thoughts in no particular priority order:

1.  can we see the request from the the egyptian civil society groups to an ows delegation?

2.  agree with its three importance points

3.  the request to send ambassadors to server as observers doesn't quite jive with sending 2-4 from a set of working groups which seems more a skill/knowledge share agenda.  not that the two are mutually exclusive but pointing out the distinction.

4.  why not the legal group if this is an observer mission?

5.  including "self funded" observers seems like a gaping cover opportunity for people going with all sorts of ulterior motives.  if ows is sending ambassadors, we ought to represent to the egyptian counterparts that they are getting trusted people.

Subject: [GlobalRevolutionMedia] Fwd: GA Egyptian Monitoring Proposal

Hello everyone! i'm working in a couple of different circles, one of which is movement building. I'm working on a time sensitive proposal going to the GA tomorrow, it involves sending ambassadors from the movement to egypt for the upcoming elections, the idea is that a group of 20ish people would leave nov 25-30ish (thanksgiving). we're looking to go through pertinent working groups to field these people, please read through the attached proposal and see if you or someone you might know would be interested in attending the info session tomorrow at 3 pm at 60 wall st (the atrium). please also feel free to email any questions/concerns my way!!

Hi Michael,

Here is the document that I forwarded to the greater "movement
building" group. I'm not sure why people wouldn't receive it..... I'll
try to forward it again :)
