Recently, we've lost much valuable live video which was not archived as it was being streamed -- for various reasons -- like reaching capacity on ustream or livestream, or malfunction, etc.

We need a volunteer archiver team.  Members of such a team could be physically located anywhere in the world, but they would capture, record, and archive ALL of our live streams... so no live stream ever goes unarchived for any reason.

Volunteers used to archive 100% of all twit.tv live streams in this way, for example. ( see http://wiki.twit.tv/wiki/Odtv )

Perhaps live stream broadcasters could email or sms a special gmail or google voice number, to alert the team that they are about to "go live", for example... and volunteers could have a schedule of who is on-call to begin capture and archival.

The archives could then all be collected by hosting the files at archive.org with each file indexed on the Team's own web site or blog.

Feel free to take this idea and run with it.
