I wonder if an online timebank system might help us resolve some issues? By
vetting and crediting people through work groups, using new paper money, and
then people could pay for resources.  We would still have a welfare system
in place but more and more it could be replaced with work based system.

A timebank may also lend us  systematic functionality.

I have a list of resources for this if anyone is interested in studying it.
Here is a timebank demo site: Sandbox

This thread implicitly raises an important series of questions for us
technologists & planners.

Most important being, given the state of the flagship encampment, & the
coordinated national move to end the encampments:

(1) Is inter-site coordination/Consensus the most important thing for this
skilled group of people to focus  their efforts on given this week's

(2) Are our assumptions about the physical context and operating model
invalid, if the encampment model & available Consensus processes are
materially altered by new conditions?

(3)  Does it matter, given how much rebuilding there is to do in the
'flagship' site - and how much we collectively could be contributing to
that, when not trying to solve this?

We are starting to feel that we should reassess the needs and priority of
Inter-Occ programs - at least ones that rely on assumptions about camp
configurations - when encampment strategy & tactics are settled, especially
if the wave of evictions in the major influential / lynchpin sites is still
in progress. (We suspect it is, & major cities are likely operating on a
Thanksgiving timetable.)

We just wonder - if this is cycle will continue to repeat, do we need to
step back & apply ourselves to Camp Preservation and alternative Direct
Action type contributions? e.g. figure out ways to more effectively limit
the damage of eviction events through cheaper / more portable components,
focus more on 'flash mobbing' and mobile actions, ?

Actually, since we have been evicted from our home, and could, under
existing body of case law in ny state assert that we constitute a household,
we should show up at the hrh emergency housing intake center and demand
emergency housing. Lawfully, they cannot order us to leave the office
without housing us, and lawfully, if they have no housing for us, they have
to let us sleep in the office. If we assert that we are a single household,
they have to find housing for all of us in one place. Usually, they put
people in hotel room until housing becomes available.

If you don't know nyc politics, you might not realize what a honey of an
idea this would be, or what a serious violation of numerous court orders it
would be for them to refuse to house or fail to house or force to leave the
office without housing us, or how large a proportion of nyc's population has
had to go through the system I"m talking about in the past 30 years. It's
THE dope tactic.

Well something needs to be done quickly even if its an intermittent
ghetto-rig, I hate to say it but zucotti is being occupied by bums and
a lot of people I talk to are saying the same thing. We need to setup
flash mobs basically or atleast be able to call meetings at a new
location. Half the ppl in the park were just there for the free meals
& place to sleep w/ friends. If they retake the park in the same
fashion as before then we will have to start calling meetings/GA's at
washington sq pk and marching from there
