a lawyer for the nyclu is putting in sound permit application in my name this morning to use sound from 6 - 8 pm today.  i will keep you updated. if we get denied, there are folks who will use the sound anyway (Udi Aloni, Slavoj Zizek, others and anyone who wants to test it). am coordinating with media to livestream it.

Suggestion:

Invite some big-name people to come to police office and demand sound permit with a press conference outside.

My understanding is that the place to get it is right down broadway.

In the meeting community relations had today with local residents, there was mild support for the idea of residents supporting us in getting amplification in exchange for compromise on late-night drumming and loud noise.

Hi All:

There are a few of us working on this (not sure who else has been but we should surely coordinate and meet).

Libor, Michael Ratner from CCR (Center for Constitutional Rights) and I met last night just to touch base about getting a few lawyers from CCR and NLJ who would be willing to advise us going forward with respect to the immediate needs of amplified sound and shelter (tents, etc.) @ Liberty.

Marina from NLG is in the loop and both Michael and Marina have suggested names of lawyers to reach out to which Libor and I are doing.

We'll get information and update asap.

In Solidarity,
Lisa

Lorenzo,
