Subject: #LIVESTREAM Budget Proposal Presentation for GA tonight + Gear List

Please find my current draft (still in progress) of a presentation prepared for tonights general assembly below, and an Itemized Excel Spreadsheet with our proposed gear attached.  We intend to bring this budget before the General Assembly for approval.  I ask you to stand in solidarity with us and voice your support of this proposal.

-------

Good Evening Brothers and Sisters.  Thank you for joining us at this General Assembly.

We are here representing the MEDIA WORKING Group.

This is an attempt to secure a budget that will support our LiveStreaming infrastructure.

On a broader level we are also hoping to establish a precedent within this General Assembly that will chart a course for other Working Groups to follow.  It is critical for the future of this movement that we create a process to enable Working Groups to gain access to funds.

So please, I ask you to come on this journey with us.

Since Day 1 we have been running a Live Video Feed covering the events in this Plaza, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

We chant daily in the streets, "THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING."  This is your opportunity continue making that true.

Since the Feed went live on September 17th we have had:

2 million unique users access 7 million total streams representing  EVERY SINGLE COUNTRY ON THE FACE OF THIS PLANET, except for North Korea.

A few highlights:

165,000 Streams in China.  Which as you may know has incredible state imposed media censorship.  Somehow, WE are getting through.

Heres are a few other interesting countries: Syria, Afghanistan, Tunisia, and even the Congo.

In total One Hundred and Six Million minutes of video has been viewed, which, if you do the math, equals about, TWO HUNDRED YEARS of footage that has been watched by THE WORLD.

So you may be asking yourself, why does LiveStream need a budget?

Thus far, LiveStream has been operated via a hodgepodge of donated equipment and peoples personal gear.  With the rain, the elements, police aggression gear has been broken or gone missing.  In order to even sustain our Live coverage, it is critical that we have this budget to purchase the necessary gear.

Why now?

Because this Saturday, October 15th, Global protests are planned in 700 cities in 80 countries. People from all over the world will take to their streets and squares to claim their rights and demand a true democracy. Now it is time for all of us to join in a global non violent protest.

80 cities will be participating in the LiveStream.  We need this gear to participate effectively in Occupying The World.

Right now over 5,000 people are watching this General Assembly.  They are learning what a TRUE DIRECT DEMOCRACY looks like.

What are we asking for:

The following equipment was approved, line by line via group consensus, over the course of several Media Working group meetings.  In order to insure the budgetary needs of every working group are met we have done our best to find the most cost effective solutions.  One example, we almost always purchase broken DELL laptops and fix them for LiveStream use.  We believe that this equipment critically necessary to sustaining the LiveStream for the duration of this movement.
