|Subject:||[GlobalRevolutionMedia] Filming confrontations and getting arrested|
To all #Media,
Over the next couple of days we will most likely see a lot of S##t go
down, especially confrontations with the NYPD. I want to remind
everyone that it is our duty as a working group and independent
journalists to capture as much as we can in order to tell the whole
world what is happening here. "The world is watching". In order to do
this in the most effective way, I'd like to mention a few things on 2
1. When filming confrontations, everything gets chaotic and panicky.
BREATHE DEEP AND REMAIN CALM. When filming, try to be in a high place
to capture what is happening and as much as possible KEEP THE CAMERA
STEADY. Our instinct is to keep swinging the camera around, but it is
much better to KEEP THE CAMERA ON ONE ACTION AND STAY WITH IT. Count
to 10 before moving the camera to something else. I've found this
extremely helpful. No matter how close to the action you get, if you
do not get good footage, we can not share it with the world. Also,
STAY FOCUSED, both you and your camera.
2. As the #MEDIA team, we play an extremely important and tactical
position. Whether or not you wish to be a arrested IS YOUR OWN CHOICE.
But, as a member of media, I urge you not to be arrested. As cold as
it sounds, WE NEED YOUR FOOTAGE and WE NEED YOUR SKILLS. You have a
important purpose to play over this weekend and we all need you.
Also, I suspect that the authorities are aware of Saturday's plans for
action and don't feel that tomorrow morning's ultimatum is a
coincidence. I would not be surprise if they do another MASS ARREST
and hold everyone until SUNDAY. Food for thought, you make your
decision. Either way, I stand by you in SOLIDARITY.
Take these words and do what you will with them.
