Hi Occupy Wall St-ers,
Some friends and I came up with a media stunt during the Times Square
Protest. "Golden Umbrella"
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_umbrella) is a clause that protects
an entrepreneur by guaranteeing with their company a payout for the risk
they bear. So if the company seems to take a turn, the founder can bail
the company with their own personal large payout. We wanted to spray
paint a hundred or so umbrellas gold for people to open during the
protest. Visually, it would definitely attract media as well as send a
message that criticizes the forms of protection allowed within the
capitalist system versus the protections not afforded to general public.
I know this is a pretty grassroots protest with each person bringing to
it what they will, but I wanted to run this by the people who are on the
ground to see if this show of support would be welcome.
