Hey guys

Still blocked out of google group so just sending out to this smaller list right now --

Some agenda points for the 5pm mtg today

1. PROJECTS

Can we reach consensus on the production on a few projects that have been floated among the group already, and assign individuals to these with sched?

OWS - 30 DAYS AND COUNTING

I want to talk about the "turning points " film that's been discussed a bit. My proposal is for a 15-18 minute short film that looks back at the first month of OWS. We're sitting on a ton of amazing footage. Some of us have been shooting since day 1. My suggestion is that we frame the film through the major events /  turning points of OWS.

Some to include:

Day 1 -  Occupation Begins

Day 3 - First march on Wall St for the Opening Bell

Day 7 - March to Union Square / mass arrests

Day 14 - March across Brooklyn Bridge

Day ? - Union Rally in Foley Square

Day ? - Bloomberg and Brookfield threaten eviction w/ "cleaning" ruse

Day ? - Global Day of Action events

We may decide that it's necessary to shoot some additional interviews with participants "looking back" at month 1 as connective tissue for narrative, but otherwise we have everything else sitting on a bunch of different drives.

Other shorts

There's stuff from Saturday that we're not going into great depth on in the piece we're currently working on  -- the bank actions for example

- BANK FLASH MOBS

- NIGHT SHIFT - a short piece about what goes on in Zuccotti after dark, set to the tune of Bob Marley's Night Shift

- HOW TO VIDEOS  - facilitation guide, Livestream set-up, media production etc

Other agenda items:

2. CREATIVE COMMONS

Very important discussion: there's been some unfair use of some people's material from the collective and it's really important that we clarify as a group ASAP how our creative commons agreement functions, what is and isn't permissible in terms of using each other's material, whether it be sound, video or stills. I see this as something that could develop into a major issue if it's not addressed properly.

3. WORKSHOPS / TRAINING / FEEDBACK

We've talked in the past about training sessions for livestream -- I think it's equally important that we address the educational aspect of our movement from a media production standpoint. I realise we're all pressed for time, but ultimately I feel that new members who are joining and are short on experience should be able to have the benefit of sharing the knowledge and experience that many of us have accrued over time. I propose that we have a day once a week where we provide an hour or two of trainings for new members that would like it -- this can be built around specific short projects on the movement so we are also continuing to produce relevant content through the trainings.

I would also like to address the issue of critical feedback among the group as a whole. I realise that there's a spectrum of skill levels and experience among the group as a whole. I think it's really important that we put aside time to provide critical feedback to each other, on pieces that are in production. That means sharing rough cuts. If that's not always possible, then I feel we can still give feedback on the final, with a view to having our comments be taken into consideration as they relate to future projects.

4. ROLES

Abe wrote yesterday to the group about the issues that arise in collective filmmaking, when dealing with creative parity on individual projects. This is a really important discussion that we need to have, in order to clarify how we will work together moving forward.

5. BUDGETING / EQUIPMENT

Fix and I are putting a budget together that attempts to comprehensively lay out the needs of the media production team for the foreseeable future. Trying to get people a draft today before the meeting. We want EVERYONE'S input on this.

Thanks and see you at 5pm

Solidaity

hey guys.

i just noticed there is a great video I didn't select yesterday. I don't know the number exactly but it's around Clip#50 on my files and you can easily see it as it's an interview with a group (mostly a blonde girl) about what was happening on Washington Sqr Park at midnight.

I can let you know what's the clip number in a few hours if needed.

Let's reupload to the correct one then share the link.
