To prevent a repeat of yesterday, a specific operations group (to use the terminology of the recently passed structure proposal) should be formed with the intention of working on winter preparedness. Unless I'm mistaken, this group does not exist, and so perhaps it was assumed the some group or another would take on this responsibility, which is perhaps why not as much was done beforehand as could have been.
Some things this group could do:
- Obtain winter supplies, working in conjunction with Comfort
- Scout out possible indoor locations for an occupation site, working in conjunction with Direct Action. Perhaps also up for discussion is how important we consider it to keep Liberty Square. Would an indoor location, if feasible, serve as an additional site, or replacement of the current one?
- Coordinate smaller off-site locations for people to sleep for a given night (e.g. organizing a list of folks willing to offer up floorspace at their apartment)
Please let me know if what I'm suggesting is redundant to what's already going on. It's just that it seems like if these tasks are not designated to a specific operations group, it may fall by the wayside. Thoughts?
