Thanks grimwomyn! please forward this to the NYCLU:
Here are some of our civil rights issues:
* Our rights to speech and peaceful assembly are being violated. We are prevented from erecting tents and other equipment physically and symbolically necessary for our protest. Public spaces have been barred to us, and our marches are disrupted. Laws (for example, the archaic and now infamous anti-masking statute) are selectively enforced to disrupt our protest. Several peaceful protesters have been arrested under spurious pretenses and now face criminal charges.
* Our speech and press rights are being violated. Members of our media team are being targeted, as well as other citizen journalists. Media equipment has been damaged or seized, with the obvious intent of disrupting our ability to get information out in the midst of a corporate media blackout.
* The NYPD is executing a policy of excessive force and unconstitutional mass arrests. We have been beaten, "kettled," pepper-sprayed, and jailed -- simply for the peaceful exercise of basic civil rights.
* Our privacy rights are being violated by NYPD and federal surveillance of our peaceful protest movement.
We need lawyers, legal observers and street law education. We need you at Liberty Square. And to be frank, we need the NYCLU (and the ACLU more broadly) to flex a little social/media/political clout for this movement -- moments like this are why you exist.
Please help us.

The NYCLU http://www.nyclu.org/ has reached out unofficially to see if there is anything that they could be working on that would be helpful to #occupywallstreet Let me know and I will forward the request.
